Overview

Apple Classroom is an iPad app that is designed to help teachers guide student learning and manage student devices. Once students have joined an Apple Classroom, the teacher can launch web pages and apps to individual student devices, specific groups of students, or the entire class. Apple Classroom allows teachers to see an overview of students’ screens at a glance.  It gives the teacher the ability to lock and unlock iPad screens in order to help students regain focus, start or pause work.

Enter Information and Create a Class

On the teacher's iPad, open the Classroom app, tap the image icon in the top left corner, and enter the name you want your students to see (For example, Mrs. Brock).

Tap the larger image icon to take or choose a photo. Then tap Done

Invite Students to Join Your Class

In the row of actions, tap the circle with three dots inside. Click Invite Students.

Tell the students to choose Settings > Classroom on their iPad and add the class.
NOTE: If Classroom is not available on a student's iPad, make sure that their Bluetooth is turned on.

Students will need to add at least their First Name here.

Note: It may take up to 10 seconds for the class to appear.

On the teacher's iPad screen, you will see a 4-digit PIN number that the students will need to enter into their iPad to connect. They will then click Add and see a message that says waiting for the teacher.
Note: This PIN number changes every time you add new students.

After a student adds the class, that student appears in the window on the teacher's iPad.

Review the list of students and deselect the ones you don’t want in the class, then click Add.

You can add more students at any time.

Once you have students in your class, you can manage the class experience. For more information, see the following:
