How to Disable Notification in Windows 10
As our schools transition to the use of Windows 10 many of our staff have discovered a minor nuisance in the form of little "popups" that typically display in the bottom right corner of the desktop. Usually, this gets set when you are visiting a website and a popup window appears and asks if you would like to "Allow" or "Block" notifications from the website. Inadvertently you may have clicked "Allow" and then the notification was set. Each time a news story or update occurs on these websites that little popup will appear to let you know. Fortunately, there is a way to stop this from occurring with a few simple clicks.
- On the very bottom right corner of the desktop, next to the clock, is an icon that looks like this
- When you click on this icon a window will appear that look similar to the one below. Click on the "All Settings" icon at the bottom.
- You will then be taken to the 'Windows Settings Screen" where you will click on "System".
- Next, you will be presented with the following screen where you will click on "Notifications & actions"
- In this area scroll down to the section labeled "Get notifications from these senders". Find the setting for "Google Chrome" and toggle the setting so it is set to "Off"
From this point forward you should not receive these notification popups.
