Sometimes, while using Google Chrome, you may notice the browser acting strangely or not performing certain functions as it once did especially in regard to interactive web pages. This can be attributed to a "build-up" of temporary files called "cache". While visiting certain websites information is downloaded to your computer and stored in the cache. These cache files can assist frequently visited websites to load faster. Over time these cache files build up and can make your browser perform erratically. Clearing your cache can help alleviate these problems and should be the first step in an attempt to self-diagnose and resolve an issue with a particular website. To clear your cache of temporary files please follow these steps:
- While in Google Chrome click the settings menu on the top right corner
- The menu looks like 3 dots stacked on top of each other .
- Click More tools >Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
- Click Clear data.
Once you have completed the above steps close your Chrome Browser and then relaunch it again. Once Chrome is open go to the website you were having issues with and try the activity that was not working before. If the activity or interactive functions are still not operating open a technology ticket to have your building tech look at your computer more closely. Tickets can be opened by going to http://tech.pemb.org/new and please be sure to provide as much detail as possible.
