Uploading a Document into Microsoft OneDrive

There are a number of ways to add documents to your Microsoft OneDrive. Below is just one way to do so.

  • Open Microsoft Outlook (your email) in a tab in Google Chrome. At the top left, you will see 9 tiles next to the word Outlook. Click on those tiles.

  • From there, click on OneDrive. Leave this tab open.

This is what a OneDrive looks like. Yours might not look exactly the same.

  • Open another tab in Google Chrome and navigate to the document you would like to open. This document can be on any number of different platforms. Download the document to your computer. Usually, the document will show up in a rectangle at the bottom left of your computer screen. (If this does NOT happen, see the Note on the last page of this document). Do NOT open the document here.

  • Now, reopen the tab where your OneDrive is. The rectangle with the document you downloaded will still be visible at the bottom of your screen. Drag and drop the document that is sitting at the bottom left of your screen into your OneDrive. You will see that it is uploading in the top right corner.

  • Usually, the new unopened document will populate at the top of your list..

You are now ready to work on your document in Microsoft OneDrive.

NOTE: If your document does not show up at the bottom left of your screen when you originally download it, follow the directions below.

  • Open your One Drive tab (as mentioned above).

  • Click the file icon on your computer’s task bar. This will open your computer’s files in a pop-up screen right on top of your open One Drive tab.

  • Clicking on Downloads

  • Then, drag and drop the document to your OneDrive from there.
