The Pemberton Genesis SIS (Student Information System) have now transitioned to require two-factor authentication in order to login.  This additional level of security is to ensure that all employee personal information as well as student information is secure. For staff members who have yet to download an authenticator app or are having difficulty logging into Genesis, please use the directions below. If you experience any difficulty setting up or logging in please submit a help ticket.

Step 1: Download an authenticator app to a cell phone or tablet. The apps listed below are free and take up very little space on a device.

·         Google Authenticator

·         Microsoft Authenticator

Step 2: District staff will receive an email from Genesis Support with the subject line of “Genesis TOTP Password Authentication Key".  The authenticator key is the code that will connect the downloaded app to Genesis.

*The key in this email is NOT the key that is inputted into Genesis. Please submit a help desk ticket if you replace your cell phone and need to enroll a new device or authenticator app.

Step 3: The first screen of the authenticator app will prompt you to enter two pieces of information.

a)       Account name - This is “Genesis SIS”

b)      Key - This is the authenticator key code that was sent to you via the email from Genesis Support. Please verify you entered the key code correctly.

Step 4: Once the key is accepted, a six digit code will be displayed on your phone/device screen. This code is your two-factor login. (This code is only valid for 60 seconds and then a new code will appear.) This is the code that is entered when prompted during log in.

Step 5: Go to the Genesis site. As in the past, the first screen will prompt you for your username and password (these have not changed). Once entered, you will then be forwarded to a second login page where you will be prompted for a second factor password. The six digit code that is on your phone/device screen should be entered and then click “Login.”

* Please see the attached instruction sheet for screen shots of the steps above. You must be logged into your Google pemb.org account to view the instructions.

Future logins:

1.       Open up the authenticator app on your phone/device and a six digit code will be displayed.

2.       Go to Genesis and enter your user name and password and login. You will then be forwarded to a second screen where you will enter the six digit code displayed on your phone/device.
